Seattle Sights

This morning, before it was time to board the ship, I went for a walk to Pike Place Market, home of the original Starbuck's. This is a pic of the original cafe. It has a beaten up look to it with none of the gleam and finish of the newer Starbuck's.

The map shows the number of Starbuck's franchises in each country throughout the world. In the US there are over 10,000! In Seattle alone, there are 84. I'd love to know what that comes to per capita.

As you can see, if we ever go on that African safari, we will have to bring our own!

The next pics are from the actual Market. The flower market is apparently one of the largest in the nation. Lots of tulips, a refreshing site for my Spring-deprived eyes.

I loved the fish markets. The fish were HUGE! I thought elizabeth might enjoy the one of the fish with smaller fish spilling out of it's mouth!
After the market, I went back to the Westin and boarded a bus to get to Pier 30, the cruise ship pier. We waited in line for the bus, then to get through customs, to get through security and, finally, to get on to the ship. The ship is the Star Princess. This is what she looks like from the walkway that leads from the customs building to the ship. As you can see, this is not a typical Seattle day. Apparently, we have been lucky because it has been raining here for days. Between the life boats, you can see a yellow line and just below that line are all of the people lined up to get on to the boat. I then proceeded to my cabin, on the ninth deck. It is not too bad, although the furnishings are a little shabby. Sorry this pic is here twice, I can't figure out how to delete it. I know, computer geek. Anyway, we are about to have an emergency drill. I'll post more later. Love you!
